JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA BORKHADI, TAPI
"A HOME AWAY FROM HOME"
The National Policy of Education 1986 envisaged the estabilishment of pace setting schools in various parts of the country. Accordingly a scheme was formulated under which it was decided to set up residential schools called Navodaya Vidyalayas on the average of one in each district. The school allotted to Surat district of Gujarat State was initially started functioning in 1988 in the temporary buildings at Vyara and subsequently it was shifted to the p ermanant site at Borkhadi, which covers 30 acres of land where the Vidyalaya is presently functioning. J.N.V Borkhadi, which was in Surat district, is surrounded by lush greenery. It is 53 Kms. away in the east from Surat, on National Highway No. 53 ( Surat – Dhule). It is connected with Tapi Valley line Railway. The nearest railway station is Kehar and Vyara. Kehar is 3 Km and Vyara is 15 kms away from J.N.V.Borkhadi. The weather of this area is normal & pleasant. The temperature varies from 24 to 37 ºc. The average rainfall is 25 inches. Bajipura is the nearest township ( 3 Km away from J.N.V.) It was established by Bajirao Peshwa. Presently the Vidyalaya is situated in Tapi District. On October 2, 2007, this district was formed by bifurcating the Surat district. Tapi is the major river of the State. Ukai, one of the major dam of Gujarat is located in this district.
The Vidyalaya Aims At:
To provide good quality modern education including especially inculcation of values and awareness of environment, to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas irrespective of their caste, colour, creed and economic conditions.
To ensure that all students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas attain a reasonable level of competency in three languages.
To promote national integration through migration of students from Hindi to Non-Hindi speaking state and vice-versa.
To serve, in each district, as focal points for improvements in quality of school education through sharing of experiences and facilities.
